Historically, Community Coach Education has been a vertical, progressive pathway. You must have completed a “lesser” course before progressing up the pathway. To complete a Senior license you must have completed a Junior and Youth license involving many hours and a cost at each stage. The numbers of coaches actually progressing all the way through the pathway has been relatively small.
For this and other reasons, such as accessibility of ‘the course you want when you want it’, a horizontal structure will be launched for 2010. A coach simply has to know what age-group he or she is coaching and apply for the appropriate age-specific course.
Furthermore, the Youth and Senior courses have been divided into two parts. The content has been designed specifically so that a coach attending the first part is taught a basic understanding of how to work with his/her players. Coaches who go on and attend the second part will have a greater understanding. To gain a Licence, after attending both parts, a coach must pass an assessment. To view the new pathway click here

Community Course Resources
FFA has confirmed that a one-year licence for the international online coaching tool, S2S, will be issued to every coach who attends an FFA course from 2010 onwards (except Grassroots Football Certificate). The tool has over 1600 practices, covering every aspect of the game, and also allows coaches to plan, record and print training sessions. There is also the capacity to design and store their own practices, amongst many other features.
Community Re-accreditation
Accreditation is for four years. To re-accredit a Licence, the coach simply has to be assessed by an approved assessor to see if he/she still demonstrates the same competencies as when the Licence was gained.
